BREAKING: Drazan “Looks Forward To The Day” Oregon Can Move to Restrict Abortion

[Medford, OR] – In her closing statement of tonight’s KOBI debate, Tina Kotek highlighted troubling comments Christine Drazan recently made about access to abortion in Oregon.

During an interview with the Bend Bulletin, anti-choice Republican Christine Drazan criticized Oregon for its “extreme” abortion laws, saying that she “looks forward to the day” where anti-choice politicians could roll back access to abortion:

“I would look forward to the day where questions around abortion were not so extreme, that you could have a civil conversation around what are common sense, reasonable laws around abortion. We don’t have that in Oregon, we don’t have the opportunity to have that conversation. But, the majority of Oregonians don’t agree with late term abortion, but that’s what that’s what Oregon’s law is. And so I would look forward to the day where Oregonians could have a conversation about what is a reasonable response to this law? And we haven’t had that yet.

“A ban is a ban. Abortion is healthcare and Oregonians have consistently affirmed that they want providers, not politicians, involved in their personal medical decisions,” said An Do, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon. “This is just more proof that Christine Drazan wants to hand over our rights to control our bodies, lives, and futures over to politicians. This so-called ‘new direction’ is just a pivot to the far-right. Without Roe, abortion is on the ballot in every state. Don’t let Christine Drazan fool you, extreme Republicans won’t stop until abortion is banned in every state, including Oregon.”
