In New TV Ad, Tina Kotek Calls Out Johnson and Drazan for Siding with NRA over Oregonians

“To prevent gun violence, I’ll only answer to you.”

[Portland, OR] – The Tina for Oregon campaign released a new TV ad, “Stop,” where Tina lays out how both of her opponents have routinely sided with the gun lobby over Oregonians’ safety.

The ad highlights Tina’s track record of passing common sense gun violence prevention legislation: expanding background checks on gun sales, allowing courts to take weapons away from people who are a danger to themselves or others, and requiring safe storage of guns. Meanwhile, both Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan opposed these life-saving measures, earning them perfect ratings from the NRA.

The issue of gun violence prevention has taken center stage in the Oregon governor’s race, and recent polls show that both Johnson and Drazan are out-of-step with voters on gun violence prevention.

Below is the transcript for “Stop”:

[Tina Kotek]: To me, it’s just common sense. Stop anyone who is a danger to others from buying a gun.

But, I’m the only candidate for governor who has passed expanded background checks, preventing domestic abusers and others from getting a gun.

Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan opposed expanded background checks, a red flag law, and a safe storage law too.

They’ve both been endorsed by the NRA.

To prevent gun violence, I’ll only answer to you.
