“If Christine Drazan supports MAGA Republicans, can we trust her to protect our democracy?”
[Portland, OR] – Today the Tina for Oregon campaign released a new digital ad, “Extremists,” detailing Christine Drazan’s troubling support of Oregon’s Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Jo Rae Perkins, who promotes the Q-Anon conspiracy theory, attended the January 6 insurrection, and actively fought to deny the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The ad features footage from an interview in which KOBI anchor Craig Smullin asks Drazan if she supports Perkins. Drazan retorted, “I’m just trying to understand why it is you would think I would not support a fellow Republican … I wish all Republican candidates the best in this next election cycle.”
Perkins is in the company of other notorious Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, and Donald Trump himself – all of whom have also promoted the dangerous, false claim that the 2020 election was “rigged.”
“The threats to our democracy are very real – and they are here in Oregon, including in the Governor’s race,” said Katie Wertheimer, communications director. “Drazan’s support for a conspiracy-pedalling election-denier means that she is too extreme for Oregon.”
