Tina Kotek Announces Endorsement from Oregon Education Association

[Portland, OR] – Today, former Oregon House Speaker and Democratic candidate for governor Tina Kotek announced the endorsement of the Oregon Education Association, the state’s largest union of educators that represents about 41,000 educators working in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 public schools and community colleges.

The OEA-PAC endorsement process is carried out by educators for educators. Over this past weekend, Tina participated in the Oregon Education Association’s virtual Political Action Committee (PAC) convention, listening to and speaking with educators about the challenges and opportunities of creating a stronger public education system.

“All of our children, from Pre-K through post-secondary education or apprenticeship, deserve an education system that provides them with the tools to succeed,” said OEA President Reed Scott-Schwalbach. “Our members take this process very seriously and they only endorse candidates who have demonstrated their commitment to building a stronger education system for all. Tina Kotek is a champion for educators and students, fighting alongside us to increase access to education funding and improve outcomes for our children. That’s why we’re proud to endorse Tina Kotek for Governor.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of our hard working educators,” said Tina Kotek, candidate for Governor. “From my earliest days in the legislature working on improving school nutrition and strengthening access to school nurses, to my leadership as Speaker to achieve historic new investments in preK-12 through the the Student Success Act, I am committed to make sure every student in Oregon has a strong, equitable pathway to educational success.”
