Governor Kotek will fight to make life more affordable, create more economic opportunity, help all students succeed, and defend what makes Oregon special
PORTLAND, OR – Today, Governor Tina Kotek released her vision for her second term, titled “Building Oregon’s Future Together.” By building on the accomplishments from her first term, Governor Kotek will fight to make life more affordable, create more economic opportunity, help all students succeed, and defend what makes Oregon special.
“While we have more work to do on Oregon’s toughest challenges, I look forward to building a future that works for every Oregonian,” said Governor Kotek. “We have been making important progress, and my second term will build upon our state’s efforts to tackle affordability, economic growth, and educational outcomes, as well as continue to stand up for Oregon against threats from the federal government.”
Governor Kotek’s platform has four pillars:
- Make Life More Affordable: Governor Kotek will expand access to infant and toddler childcare while creating a pathway to universal preschool statewide, and increase affordable housing options for renters and first-time home buyers.
- Create More Economic Opportunity: Governor Kotek will focus recruitment and investment in emerging sectors and support startups, small and local businesses, and Oregon entrepreneurs by leveling the playing field and reducing barriers to business growth and living-wage jobs.
- Help All Students Succeed: Governor Kotek will increase instructional time, continue to reduce absenteeism rates, improve high-quality instruction, and strengthen graduation requirements.
- Defend What Makes Oregon Special: Governor Kotek will stop new data center development until statewide standards are in place to prevent electricity rate hikes, require clean energy production for new facilities, protect our clean air and water, and support union jobs. She will also fight to keep Oregon a welcoming state and protect vote-by-mail, access to reproductive health care, and Oregon’s natural environment.
