Oregon Women Leaders Endorse Tina Kotek for Governor

[Portland, OR] – Today, several prominent women elected officials announced their endorsement of Tina Kotek for Oregon Governor. These additional endorsements from prominent leaders representing all levels of government showcase Tina as an effective leader who is ready to take on Oregon’s toughest challenges:

  • Governor Kate Brown
  • Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum
  • Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici
  • Oregon Senator Kate Lieber
  • Oregon Senator Deb Patterson
  • Oregon Senator Kathleen Taylor
  • Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty

“Tina has been an advocate for working families for her entire career,” said Governor Kate Brown. “From her days at Oregon Food Bank to her work in the legislature, she has always fought to make sure everyone has a chance at a better future. I know she will be true to these values as Oregon’s next governor.”

“I am honored to endorse Tina Kotek for Governor. She has just what our state needs to get beyond the challenges of the past and move into a more positive future,” said Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum. “In particular, Tina will take action on gun violence prevention more effectively than anyone running for Governor. She understands what our children need. And, at a time when the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, Tina is the only candidate for Governor I trust to stand up and fight — successfully — for our reproductive rights. Finally, as I’ve seen firsthand and repeatedly, Tina knows how to make government work for the people of Oregon. She will be a great governor.”

“Tina Kotek is a hardworking and effective leader who will help guide Oregon to a better future. I’m excited to endorse her for Governor, and I’m ready to partner with her on the issues that matter most to Oregonians — affordable housing and health care, high quality education and career opportunities for everyone, and bold climate action,” said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. “And with the right to make our own health care decisions threatened at the national level, we can trust Tina to protect abortion rights here in Oregon.”

“Tina is the leader we need to move our state forward,” said State Senator Kate Lieber. “She will be able to drive forward change and follow through on commitments that will allow us to tackle our homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse crises. We need a leader who has the values and the experience to get things done – that’s why I’m endorsing Tina Kotek for Governor.”

“As House Speaker, Tina led the charge to protect and expand access to affordable health care coverage, expanding coverage to over 400,000 children,” said State Senator Deb Patterson. “And, thanks to Tina’s leadership, Oregon moved to lower the cost of insulin for Oregonians living with diabetes and increase transparency around the cost of prescription drug prices. I’m proud to endorse Tina because I know that as Governor she will continue to fight for access to health care for all Oregonians.”

“Tina Kotek was instrumental in passing a strong equal pay bill and a well balanced Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance program,” said State Senator Kathleen Taylor. “She is a true environmental champion who understands the threat of climate change. Tina is the only candidate running for Governor who will fight for progressive values.”

“I’m thrilled to endorse Tina Kotek to be Oregon’s next Governor,” said Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty. “As a mayor, I know how important it is to have leaders at every level of government who can work together to break down silos and solve our biggest problems. Tina Kotek is that leader.”

Today’s announcement comes after Tina recently announced the endorsements of Oregon Treasurer Tobias Read and Nick Kristof, two prominent opponents from the primary election, and Oregon U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.

To date, Tina has earned the endorsements of over 30 prominent organizations, including pro-choice, environmental, labor and civil rights organizations. Tina has also earned the support of over 60 state and local elected officials.
