Starnes, long-time advocate for campaign finance reform, has run for governor as both an Independent and a Democrat
[Portland, OR] – Today former candidate for governor Patrick Starnes endorsed Tina Kotek for Oregon Governor.
Starnes, a cabinetmaker from Brownsville, was the Independent Party nominee for Governor in 2018 and a candidate in the Democratic gubernatorial primary this year. In both elections, he used his platform to call for campaign finance reform.
“Once again, we’re seeing corporate special interests spending millions of dollars trying to buy the governor’s seat. I’m proud to endorse Tina Kotek because I know that she acts with integrity and transparency, and as governor, she will keep pushing for campaign finance reform,” Patrick Starnes said.
“We need to bring the power back to the people and enact campaign finance reform in Oregon and nationally. Our democracy depends on it,” said Tina Kotek, Democratic candidate for Governor. “I’m grateful to Patrick for pushing to elevate this issue, and I look forward to working with him as governor to get it done.”
Starnes joins fellow former Democratic gubernatorial candidates State Treasurer Tobias Read and Nick Kristof in endorsing Tina’s campaign.
