“Leadership” highlights Governor Kotek’s success in blocking President Trump’s illegal National Guard deployment in Portland
PORTLAND, OR – Today, Governor Tina Kotek’s re-election campaign launched a new ad highlighting Oregon’s success in blocking President Trump’s illegal National Guard deployment in Portland. Ahead of the one year anniversary of the attempted deployment, “Leadership” shows Oregonians that Governor Kotek will always fight to protect them from federal overreach.
“Last year, President Trump tried to mobilize the National Guard against the very communities they are meant to protect,” said Governor Kotek. “But I didn’t let that happen. We sued Trump in court, and we won. Unlike Christine Drazan, I will always stand up for Oregon values and the rule of law.”
While Governor Kotek quickly defended Oregon, Kotek’s opponent, Republican Christine Drazan, failed to stand up to Trump’s deployment of the National Guard. She supported the federal military deployment in Portland, and even called anti-ICE protesters “domestic terrorists.” And when it came to protecting Oregon’s future, Drazan voted against preventing further federal overreach with the Oregon National Guard.
